主講人簡介:
Peter De Costa 為美國密西根州立大學(xué)助理教授,博士生導(dǎo)師。擔(dān)任美國教育研究協(xié)會二語研究委員會主席、美國應(yīng)用語言學(xué)協(xié)會執(zhí)行委員會成員、對外英語教學(xué)(TESOL)研究專業(yè)委員會成員等職務(wù),主要從事語言學(xué)和語言教育研究,多篇論文被AILA Review,Applied Linguistics Review,International Journal of Applied Linguistics, TESOL Journal, TESOL Quarterly和 The Modern Language Journal等國際知名學(xué)術(shù)期刊收錄。同時,他擔(dān)任TESOL Quarterly的聯(lián)合主編和多個國際刊物的審稿專家,為期刊擔(dān)任特約??庉?。作為國際應(yīng)用語言學(xué)大會(AAAL)、國際英語教學(xué)大會(TESOL)會員,多次組織圓桌討論會和專題演講會。2016年,他獲得了美國教育研究聯(lián)合協(xié)會頒發(fā)的“學(xué)術(shù)研究之星”獎項(xiàng)。

Course Description and Objectives:
This course provides an introduction to research methods, data analysis, and thesis writing in applied linguistics. One of the goals of the course is for students to develop critical reading skills in this area in order to improve their understanding of published studies in the field. Our readings will focus on qualitative approaches to research in applied linguistics. Upon successful completion of this set of workshops you will:
· develop skills in planning and implementing original research, including the development of data collection instruments and procedures
· experience collecting and analyzing data obtained through a variety of research procedures
· fine-tune your research reporting skills, in both the oral and written modes
· enhance your confidence in your own ability to write professional proposals and research reports.
